Is donating through CaptureCongress like donating directly to the candidate?
Yes. Donations on CaptureCongress are handled by ActBlue, a political action committee that sends every penny to the candidates. Not even the charge of processing credit cards is taken out It's the same as if you gave the candidate a check, went to a fundraiser or donated on the candidate's own Web site.
How much can I donate?
Your donations are subject to campaign finance laws and limits. That means for U.S. House and Senate candidates, you are limited to donating $2,100 per election to each candidate. Primaries, runoffs and general elections are counted separately.
The Federal Election Commission (FEC) also limits total contributions to $40,000 to Federal candidates in the years 2005 and 2006.
